La Vuelta de Espana, Stage 11, Padrón to Padrón

Watching Stage 2 of this year's La Vuelta in Bombarral, Portugal, inspired us to hit the road and follow the race up the coast into Galicia, where Stages 10 and 11 were set to unfold. With a couple of weeks holiday not yet planned, it made sense (to me at least!) that we hit the road and head north through Porto, and on into Spain. We arrived in the picturesque town of Padrón, renowned for its Pimientos de Padrón — small green peppers with a distinctive flavour, some packing a surprising punch. The stage in Padrón was a figure-eight loop course and provided the perfect vantage point to photograph the cyclists in action, as they raced through the stage, dropping all of us spectators into the excitement of La Vuelta.
