Discover the power of Luminar Neo's advanced tools for merging multiple exposures into a single, high-dynamic-range image. Additionally, see how to seamlessly remove unwanted elements from your photos using GenErase, an AI-powered feature from Skylum. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer, this video will guide you through the process of enhancing your images with HDR and AI editing techniques.
If you don’t know what HDR (High dynamic range) photography is, it’s the process of creating pictures that have great dynamic range, so that you lift dark shadows at the same time reduce overblown skies. By doing this, you create a picture that has a balanced feel, and one that is slightly surreal. HDR photography was super popular about 20 years ago, and the likes of Trey Ratcliff became popular on social media.
Creating HDR images is a rewarding experience, because it helps you take photographs that on their own are not perfect. But, and here's the thing, when you put 10 photos of the same subject with different exposures and compress them, you can get magical photos in return. By doing this, you can capture every detail in the shadows and highlights.
Doing this for dozens of photos could take all day. But this new software that I have been trying out, Luminar Neo, solves this problem by letting you process multiple exposures at the same time. Luminar Neo also helps solve the problem by adding Artificial Intelligence to help improve the images further.
It’s the batch process of the Luminar Neo workflow that makes it really easy. As you can see in my video tutorial, all you need to do is add a bunch of images all taken at different exposures, using a tripod, and the software intelligently works out which batch of photographs belong to which. It then creates a series of images, so all you’ve had to do is select your brackets and let the software do the heavy lifting. You get balanced images with great contrast in a fraction of the time. This gives you more hours to spend behind the camera or with your family.
Fix Your Images Instantly With AI
Once you’ve done your batches and got the perfect images prepared, you can continue to edit. Luminar Neo makes it easy to carry out fine-tune adjustments. In my example in the video tutorial, I show how you can remove quite large objects from the picture, and make them look as though they were always like that. But, even perfectly exposed images can have unwanted elements. Power lines, stray tourists and rubbish bins can ruin an amazing outdoor shot. Removing these objects used to require advanced cloning skills and lots of patience, and a ton of Photoshop skills. Now, all it takes is a couple of clicks.
The GenErase tool changes everything. This feature uses smart technology to analyze your photo and replace distracting objects with realistic textures. It matches the surrounding environment perfectly so nobody will ever know something was removed.
You simply brush over the unwanted object and let the program erase it. It saves you from complex layering work. Your final photos look clean and professional with very little effort.
