Danish Endurance Running Socks 2 Year Review

While looking for a pair of running socks to replace several worn pairs of Adidas socks, the kind you buy at the counter of JD Sports while waiting to pay, I was looking for new socks that would be better suited to running, would rub less, and not cause me blisters on race day. The trouble that I'd had with Adidas or Nike socks bought at the counter was that they are just a regular design, nothing special, and not always well made. I had issues in the past where they would rub on a seam, or there would be a lump at the bottom of the sock, which is nothing at the start of a race, but by the end, it is rubbing your toes or has caused a huge blister.
The Search for Better Running Socks
In Running Monthly, the magazine that I enjoy a subscription with, always had loads of gear reviews and I read through theirs on socks. Nothing really stood out, and so I had a look through Amazon. I came across Danish Endurance, makers of a running sock, and was swayed by the reviews, and bought a set of 3 x socks. The reviews weren’t wrong, these really were one of the best running socks I’d used. Since I bought them 2 years ago, they’ve been through the washing machine many times, worn on endless runs in hot and cold weather, in dry and wet conditions, and yet they’ve never rubbed, never caused a blister, have kept their shape, and most of their colour.
I enjoyed running in them so much that I bought a second set of black socks, and now have both bright green and black to run in. They are more than an ankle sock, but not as high as a full length sock. The build quality is very high and the packaging is pure Danish, i.e., very high standard, and 100% recyclable, with no plastic used at all. The socks are delivered in a paper envelope and the socks individually wrapped in a paper sleeve. Before you put them on, you know they are going to work. Nobody goes through all that effort designing something that isn’t going to work, and they haven’t disappointed me.
Testing Durability on Long Runs
I run about 1000kms per year, so these socks, they come in a 3 x pack, and I have 2 x sets, and have run hundreds of kilometers. They are especially good on hot days, keeping my feet cool. I wore them when I ran the Lisbon Marathon in 30°C degree heat. My feet were fine.
With an ‘L’ and ‘R’ stitched into the sock, you can tell that they are anatomically designed to fit your foot. The snug fit around the middle of the foot gives great arch support when you hit high mileage, even after a hot run puts them to the ultimate test. There is just enough padding on the heel and toe to soften the impact without crowding your running shoes.
Fit, Value, and Final Thoughts
They resist odours, never suffer from a smelly pair of socks, even if I wore them a couple of days in a row when travelling. Plus, they cost about 18 euros for a pack of three. That is double the price of basic counter socks, but their durability makes them a much better value overall.
After hundreds of kilometers and hot runs, I trust these every single time. Here’s a link so you can grab a pack of Danish Endurance Running Socks directly on Amazon to protect your own feet. Check out my full marathon gear list to see the rest of my favourite running equipment.
